Laws Programme offers MOOC in 2015

On Monday 6 July 2015 the Undergraduate Laws Programme (ULP) will be delivering our six week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on English Common Law: Structure and Principles.

Coursera logoThe free online course is open to anyone. It is designed as an introduction to English Common Law and will give students a broad understanding of the characteristics and functions of the English Legal System.

Learning will be through video lectures and supported by activities, links and other reading resources. Students will be able to communicate with one another through the online Discussion Forums and there will be opportunities to interact with Professor Gearey during the course.

Those who are looking to start the Undergraduate Laws Programme in September may find the course a useful grounding in the legal system, however it doesn’t confer, or count for credit towards any ULP qualification.

Each week of the course is designed to be a refreshing, enjoyable and fascinating experience, focussing on a specific theme, including “Dead Kings and Presidents”, “Reading the Riot Act” and “After the War, Before the Peace”.

In 2013 the Undergraduate Laws Programme first launched this MOOC on the Coursera platform with 14,000 registrations. Since then the course has been updated and includes new materials.

To join the course, you’ll need to register on the Coursera website.
